SUMMARY:Back to Basics of Forensic Radiography - HOBART\, TAS
DESCRIPTION:‘Back to Basics of Forensic Radiography’ is designed to educate attendees on the basic of forensic imaging in adults and paediatrics\, starting with how forensic imaging differs from clinical imaging\, purposes of forensic imaging\, adaptive techniques\, legal aspects\, record keeping\, standards\, and documentation of forensic imaging. \nThe course has 2 parts:\n1. An online component is required to be completed at least 48 hours prior to the workshop and will take approximately 3 hours to complete. The link to the online component will be emailed to you upon registration. Please ensure you give yourself adequate time to complete the theory component\, as you will not be able to attend the practical workshop without completing it! \n2. The practical workshop will be held in the Old Woolstore in Hobart (TAS) on Wed 25 March 2026. Please note the workshop is approximately 1.5 hours long. The workshops will be spaced throughout throughout the day\, starting at 8am. Doing Better – Growth in NAI Imaging by Chris Houghton\nChris is a radiographer with nearly 30 years of experience\, currently working as Senior Tutor Radiographer at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and an Adjunct Academic at Charles Sturt University. In this webinar\, he explores how rural hospitals can ensure high-quality imaging in cases of suspected Non-Accidental Injury (NAI)\, sharing practical insights from a journey of continuous learning and improvement to deliver gold standard care in rural Australia. \n2. Red Flags and Real Data: What two years of NAI data tells us by Carolyn Heyes\nCarolyn is a highly experienced radiographer who qualified in 1985 and has worked across both public and private sectors in roles including Clinical Tutor\, Deputy Chief\, and Chief Radiographer. With over 16 years of paediatric experience\, she is currently a Senior Medical Imaging Technologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and is actively involved with the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT)\, having served on multiple committees\, including the Board of Directors. She has a strong passion for orthopaedic imaging and is dedicated to clinical teaching and supporting students. \nIn this webinar\, Carolyn presents a retrospective study examining two years of Non-Accidental Injury (NAI) Skeletal Surveys. She explores key questions including the percentage of positive NAI skeletal surveys\, which clinical indications are more likely to result in a positive study\, and the proportion of referred patients identified as victims of NAI.
