{"id":1720,"date":"2019-10-19T20:50:00","date_gmt":"2019-10-19T19:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forensicradiography.com\/?p=1720"},"modified":"2023-09-24T19:54:55","modified_gmt":"2023-09-24T18:54:55","slug":"dvi-for-radiographers-melbourne-sept-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forensicradiography.com\/index.php\/2019\/dvi-for-radiographers-melbourne-sept-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"DVI for Radiographers (Melbourne &#8211; Sept 2019)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The ANZ branch of the International Association of Forensic Radiographers (IAFR) delivered a successful \u2018Disaster Victim Identification\u2019 (DVI) workshop for Radiographers in Melbourne. 19 radiographers, including five IAFR members, from across Australia and New Zealand, attended the 2-day workshop. Day 1 was hosted by the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) and included presentations from a forensic pathologist, mortuary manager, the Coroner, the Australian Federal Police and forensic radiographers. We were also fortunate to walk through the VIFM mortuary to better understand the workflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 2 focussed more on the practical training with sessions using CT, fluoroscopy and x-ray in the Alfred Centre radiology department. Whilst this was fun, it provided challenges to the radiographers to apply their new knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped
