One of the greatest problems arising from any<br \/>\nincident involving multiple fatalities is the identification of victims to the satisfaction of the<br \/>\nCoroner.<\/p>\n<p>The scene(s) should be treated as crime scene(s) and all human remains left in situ until the arrival<br \/>\nof Crime Scene Investigation and DVI recovery teams, in accordance with jurisdictional policies.<br \/>\nThe scene(s) is photographed and the position of all human remains recorded. The human<br \/>\nremains are then labelled, recovered and transported to the mortuary. Relevant property located<br \/>\nat the scene is collected and recorded.<\/p>\n<h2>Bio<\/h2>\n<p>Inspector Rod Anderson APM, joined the AFP in 1990. Currently, he is the Officer-in-Charge of<br \/>\nTuggeranong Police Station in the ACT and is the AFP DVI Commander since 2008. E is also the<br \/>\ncurrent Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Police Advisory Agency (ANZPAA) DVI Committee<br \/>\n(ADVIC).<\/p>\n<p>Having been involved in Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) since joining the Search &amp;amp; Rescue<br \/>\nTeam in 1996, Inspector Anderson has attended in a command role, a number of major disasters<br \/>\nlocally, nationally and internationally. These include the Asian Tsunami in 2005, Victorian<br \/>\nBushfires in 2009 and a number of aircraft crashes both in Australia and overseas.
