IAFR Webinar #10 – Imaging of Archaeological & Mummified Remains

April 24, 2019 @ 18:00 - 19:00 BST

Free – £5

Registration is now open for IAFR Webinar #10 on Wednesday 24th April at 18:00 (BST).  The topic of this webinar will be the Imaging of Archaeological & Mummified Remains and will be delivered by Prof. Jerry Conlogue, Professor of Diagnostic Imaging at Quinnipiac University, Hamden, CT who has over fifty years experience in applying medical imaging techniques to non-medical areas, such as art conservation, wildlife management, archaeology, anthropology and forensics.

Abstract

Radiographers are trained to acquire images specifically in a clinical environment.  Although their training makes them the first choice to transition into non-clinical areas, such as anthropology and forensics, additional training or review of basic imaging principles maybe required.  For example, most clinical settings have shifted from film to a digital recording media, however, in a remote field facility only film may be available.  The following presentation considers the role of the radiographer transitioning into paleoimaging and a member of a bioantrhopology research team in a variety of field situations.  In addition, the integration of advanced imaging modalities, such as multi-detector computed radiography is considered.

Registration for is free for IAFR members and £5 for non-members.
