Abstract:
In the event of a Mass Fatality Incident, Police Officers act as agents of the Coroner in addition to their statutory duties under the Police Act. The role of the Police, and the manner in which it is carried out is not just a vital part of the investigative process but is critical to the experience (and grief pathway) for those who have been bereaved. This webinar will consider the historical development of the Disaster Victim Identification process, the practicalities of effective delivery and the importance of collaborative working between specialists. It will also make reference to the consequences for responders of being involved in this work and how we manage their impacts.
