Jeroen Kroll, Forensic Radiology consultant, Unit Forensic Radiology at Maastricht University Medical Center, Chair IAFR
In the Netherlands, forensic radiology is used as an independent medical forensic examination during the early stages of a forensic investigation. The leader of the investigation, the public prosecutor, orders a forensic radiological examination. By providing the radiological information to the entire forensic team in an early stage, forensic follow-up investigations can be initiated. Due to this method, there is a lot of communication between the radiology department and a diversity of parties within the forensic field, each with their own frameworks and jargon.
