This presentation will be an overview of some of the more commonly seen cases of animal abuse and neglect that is seen at the RSPCA. Rebecca will discuss her role at the RSPCA, the different types of animal abuse that is seen, clinical findings and how radiology is utilised to assist with medical management and prosecution of these cases.
Rebecca graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Veterinary Science degree in 2005. She has been working at the RSPCA in Melbourne since 2007 and obtained a graduate certificate in Veterinary Forensics from the University of Florida in 2013. Rebecca is currently studying for her Masters in this discipline. Her role as the Senior Forensic Veterinarian at the RSPCA involves assisting the Inspectors with the cruelty cases that they bring in. This includes forensic examinations of live and deceased animals, medical treatment and work up, rehabilitation, report writing and expert testimony at court.
