The ANZ Branch of IAFR is proud to present the Webinar: Compassion amongst the chaos by Noelle Sweeney-Smith.
The Forensic Medicine Social Work Team provide a unique and specialised support service to the families and friends of deceased persons whose death has been referred to the NSW Coroner. The state wide service operates from three Forensic Medicine facilities to provide timely transparent information, grief and bereavement support and the practical facilitation of the formal
identification process as well as spending time with their deceased family member if required. The Social Work team sit within the greater Forensic Medicine multidisciplinary health team while working closely with stakeholders in Justice, Police, health systems and ongoing community support services. The work is compassionate, fast paced, varied, brave and appreciated by the families who encounter this team.
Noelle is a Forensic Medicine Social Worker with Forensic Analytical Science Service NSW Australia. She is enjoying being an empty nester, loves to travel and makes the most of living on the coast swimming, outrigging and running. Her work experience includes positions in Juvenile Justice, The Cerebral Palsy Alliance, The Motor Neurone Association, TAFE educator and Paediatric Rehabilitation. The extremely rewarding nature of her current role is what sustains her, she has worked at Forensic Medicine Newcastle for 8 years. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work, a Graduate Certificate in Mediation and a Masters of Teaching.
